Microsoft is partnering with Joyent to port Node.js to Windows. The native port will target the high-performance IOCP API. The result will be an official binary node.exe release that will work on Windows Azure and other Windows versions as far back as Server 2003.
Microsoft Visual Studio LightSwitch gives you a simpler and faster way to create high-quality business applications for the desktop and the cloud. LightSwitch provides a variety of pre-built templates and tools to quickly build business applications that target Windows Client or Windows Azure. Visual Studio LightSwitch Beta 2 includes a “Go Live” license for internal production use.
Microsoft has announced Windows Azure Toolkits for Devices, available for Windows Phone, iOS and Android. Developers can use the toolkits to help create apps that take advantage of the Azure cloud platform.
The toolkits leverage the cloud to simplify the complexity of supporting multiple devices. As a common back-end, developers can use cloud services to share common requirements like device notifications, authentication, storage and even higher-level services like leaderboards. At the same time, developers can maximize the performance of each mobile device by writing client code that exploits each platform. As more and more mobile applications rely on back-end services, the cloud can become increasingly useful and strategic for developers.
The Windows Azure Toolkit for Windows Phone 7 is designed to make it easier for you to build mobile applications that leverage cloud services running in Windows Azure. The open-source toolkit includes Visual Studio project templates for Windows Phone 7 and Windows Azure, class libraries optimized for use on the phone, sample applications, and documentation.
Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio — which includes the Windows Azure SDK — extends Visual Studio 2010 to enable the creation, configuration, building, debugging, running, packaging and deployment of scalable web applications and services on Windows Azure cloud computing platform. Windows Azure SDK 1.4 Refresh is primarily a stability release.

The Windows Azure Platform Training Kit provides hands-on labs (HOLs), presentations, and samples to help you understand how to build applications on the Windows Azure cloud computing platform.
The February 2011 update includes several updated HOLs for the Windows Azure AppFabric February CTP, AppFabric Caching, Access Control, and Service Bus portal. The demo and setup scripts for all HOLs have been updated to support Windows 7 SP1.

An update is now available for SQL Server JDBC Driver 3.0, a Type 4 JDBC driver that provides database connectivity through the standard JDBC application program interfaces (APIs) available in Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 5 and above. This version of SQL Server JDBC Driver 3.0 adds support for SQL Azure.
Windows Azure AppFabric provides a comprehensive cloud middleware platform for developing, deploying and managing applications on the Windows Azure Platform. AppFabric delivers additional developer productivity by adding higher-level Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) capabilities on top of the familiar Windows Azure application model.
AppFabric also enables bridging your existing applications to the cloud through secure connectivity across network and geographic boundaries, and by providing a consistent development model for both Windows Azure and Windows Server.
Finally, AppFabric makes development more productive by providing higher abstraction for building end-to-end applications, and simplifies and maintenance of the application as it takes advantage of advances in the underlying hardware and software infrastructure.
