IIS Media Services’ Advanced Logging extension provides access to both real-time client and server side logs for media experiences delivered over HTTP. Advanced Logging also allows third-party analytics providers to easily access data in real-time as well as extend the set of metrics that are captured from either the client or the server.
Advanced Logging provides rich, flexible data collection and real-time logging capabilities. Log any of the HTTP request/response headers, IIS server variables and client-side fields to track end-user engagement. Generate logs per IIS application, create custom logging for modules, or implement hierarchical logging. Set up a central log farm to collect and log client-side metrics and create multiple logs per request, with each log containing purpose-specific data.
IIS Advanced Logging 1.0 is now available and includes the following features:
- Client-side logging
- Centralized logging
- Multiple Logs per request
- Real-time logging
- Rich/Flexible logging
- Application Logging
- Module Specific Log fields
- Log Filtering

The good news is that Microsoft .NET Framework is installed on a majority of Windows PCs. The bad news is if you are developing an application with the newest version of .NET (3.5), nearly half of Windows PCs cannot run your app.

YUI 3 is Yahoo!’s next-generation JavaScript and CSS library. YUI 3 powers the new Yahoo! homepage and incorporates what we’ve learned in five years of dedicated library development. Today, the YUI 3 Core and a full utility set are ready for use. All YUI projects are BSD-licensed and are available for forking and contribution on GitHub.
YUI 3 is the first major redesign of YUI since 2005 and includes the following modernizations:
- Selector-driven: YUI 3 is built around one of the lightest, fastest selector engines available, bringing the expressive power of the CSS selector specification into actions that target DOM nodes.
- Syntactically terse: Without polluting the global namespace, YUI 3 supports a more terse coding style in which more can be accomplished with less code.
- Self-completing: YUI 3’s light (6.2KB gzipped) seed file can serve as the starting point for any implementation. As long as this seed file is present on the page, you can load any module in the library on the fly. And all modules brought into the page via the built-in loader are done so via combo-handled, non-blocking HTTP requests. This makes loading the library safe, easy and fast.
- Sandboxed: YUI modules are bound to YUI instances when you
use() them; this protects you against changes that might happen later in the page’s lifecycle. (In other words, if someone blows away a module you’re using after you’ve created your YUI instance, your code won’t be affected.)

Windows Embedded is a componentized, real-time operating system to deliver compelling experiences on a wide range of small footprint consumer and enterprise devices.
With the latest release of Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3, device manufacturers can use familiar tools and innovative technologies to create devices differentiated by an immersive user interface, a rich browsing experience, and a unique connection to Windows PCs, servers, services, and devices. By building on the high performance and highly reliable Windows Embedded CE platform, device makers can bring their device to market quickly and efficiently.
Microsoft’s Silverlight technology comes to Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 as an out-of-browser, native code implementation, and the presence of Silverlight for Windows Embedded should deliver the foundation for rich UIs on devices powered by the OS.
Unfortunately, at this point a “Silverlight for Windows Embedded” application will run out of the browser and only support native C++ (no managed code).
